FOREST EFFECT ON RAINFALL
SCIENTIST CORRECTS THEORY [Pek United Press Association.] PAHIATUA, November 30. Dr Kidsou, Dominion Meteorologist, of some observations supplied locally on climatic records, says; “One continually sees statements regarding the effect of forests on rainfall, which completely ignore the evidence that most careful investigations on the subject have been made in many countries. The only conclusion that can be drawn is that if forests have any effect on rainfall it must be very slight, and most unlikely to bo important in New Zealand, which is a narrow country with a high’ rainfall, surrounded by great expanses of ocean.”
