A NEW At JOLSON
COMING IN STORY OF A TRAMP A 1 Jolson makes a triumphant return to the screen in ‘ Hallelujah, I’m a Tramp,’ which should prove very successful at the Empire Theatre. Jolson takes an entirely different role from those that made him the most popular actor on the screen in the early days of talking pictures. In this picture he is seen as a care-free tramp, leader of the eccentric vagabonds whose headquarters are Central Park, New York. The results of his friendship- with the mayor of the city make an interesting story. There is some good music in this picture. Jolson delivers a number of ditties as incidents of his effort to straighten out a tangled heart affair between the Mayor of New York (Frank Morgan) and his girl (Madge Evans) A new effect is the introduction of rhythmic dialogue. Chester Conklin and Harrv Langdon. two popular comedians of the silent days, contribute much of the humour. The picture is carried along at a brisk tempo to a satisfactory climax. _
