KINDERGARTEN FUNCTION

MISS SAUNDERS ENTERTAINED At the Reynolds Kindergarten last evening the Mothers’ Committee entertained Miss Beth Saunders, who has resigned the directorship as from the end of the present year, at a “ kitchen ” social. There was a largo attendance of parents of the children attending this school, and tho main room had been prettily decorated for the occasion. After dancing and musical items had been enjoyed for an hour or so, Mr Paterson, on behalf of the committee, expressed the regrets of the parents and children at Miss Saunders’s departure. She had endeared herself to both mothers and children, and her efforts during the past year had been most gratifying. Throwing her whole heart into the work and welfare of tho kindergarten, she was leaving it in splendid all-round order, and the good financial position of the local committee was very largely due to her excellent organisation. He then asked Miss Saunders to accept presents which the mothers hoped she would find useful in her new home. These presents numbered over a hundred different articles, and each carried a very sincere wish for Miss Saunders’s future happiness. Miss Saunders made a suitable response, during which she said the success obtained in the school last year would have only been possible with the warm-hearted co-operation of the mothers and fathers of the pupils, which had been so generously given her. Tho musical items were given by Mesdames Garden and Douglas, and Messrs Bennett, Wilson, and Douglas. Mr Paterson made an efficient chairman, and the Mothers’ Committee provided supper.
