(Received October 17, at 2 p.m.) Rear-Admiral Byrd is confined to his bed in a hotel here suffering from an acute attack of laryngitis. It was announced by Dr Shirey, physician to the expedition, that if his condition had not improved this afternoon he would call other physicians into consultation.
