EXCEPTIONAL COMEDY

• THE PERFECT LADY ' FOR THE GRAND There is excellent entertainment to be had in the new British International Pictures’ release, ‘ The Perfect Lady,’ which will start at the Grand Theatre on Friday. This picture is a comedy of exceptional merit. Bright, breezy to a degree, in places very daring, and at all times genuinely amusing, ‘ The Perfect Lady ’ is a story of the life, loves, and lovers of a “ golddigging ” actress, who doesn’t mind entertaining all her men at the same time. Some of the situations are decidedly piquant, but the actress seems to be able to rise to the occasion and still emerge “ the perfect lady,” until one night she loses her temper—and incidentally three very wealthy men. Betty Amann, a seductive brunette, makes a great hit as the “ gold-digger.” She is a splendid actress, and wears some really astounding frocks. ‘ Potiphar’s Wife,’ which will also be shown, is adapted from Edgar Middleton’s great stage triumph. It is a powerful story of a woman, neglected ! by her husband, who attempts to find solace in her handsome' chauffeur, and, failing, accuses him of assaulting her in her room. There is a big-trial scene, of intense dramatic strength. _ Nora Swinburne, Laurence Olivier. Norman M'Kinuell, Guy Newall, and Ronald Frankau arc featured in the cast. I ‘ Potiphar’s Wife ’ is Elstree’s most elaborately screened talkie, and is directed by Maurice Elvey *
