HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
There attended the monthly meeting of committee Messrs G. A. Skene (m the chair), J. Nelson, J. Black, H. S, Huagerford, Pi O. Vallauge, J. S, M'Cartney, W. Blackburn, J. H. : Vickers, E. A. Hamel, H. T. Trevena, .C. W. Rhodes, W. Thorn, J. Mahoney, Mrs W. Jones and Miss A. Cable. The secretary, Otago A. and P. Society, wrote offering the Brydone Hall for the society’s show, and it was resolved to refer the letter to the annual meeting. ' It was decided to hold the annual meeting on the 27th instant. Several members spoke in regard to the large amount paid in prize money, and it was suggested that some alteration might be made in regard to entry fees. Considerable discussion took place upon a suggested new method of allocation of prize-money, and it was decided to bring the .matter up for consideration at. the annual meeting.
The Chrysanthemum Certifying Committee had placed before it'for adjudication fourteen blooms of a bronze decorative single chrysanthemum raised by Mr i P. O. Vallange, and it was awarded a first-class certificate. The flower has -been named Mrs E. L.' Vallange.. r
