SOCCER TROPHY MATCH—WELLINGTON V. OTAGO If last season’s interprovincial games played at Dunedin for the English Football Association trophy' are any criterion, the challenge match between Wellington'.and Otago, at the Caledonian Ground, should provide a thrilling exhibition of Association football. These matches'are regarded as the blue ribbon of the game' in the dominion, and'the-winners of to-morrow’s game are likely to receive challenges from Canterbury and Auckland in due cobrse. The Otago players are very keen on holding the trophy, while Wellington are equally anxious to go one better than a draw, which was the result of last year’s match. The “ Gale ” is a splendid ground for a first-class match, being handy to the city and with plenty of accommodation for the large attendance, -w'' ; ''h is ry-.-tc' l to view the game. The playing 1 area despite the recent -ram" is r. order, for fast play. 'Spectators" at last year’s game were enthusiastic as a result of the exhibition Of the teams under the adverse., conditions which prevailed then, and as both, sides include some ; fast and clevel’ players; interesting and attractive football should be on view. The Wellington pla3’ers, under the managership' of Mr 'George Aers, arrive by the express to-night and will be quartered'at the-,Rugby Hotel. Provided the weather holds tip, a curtain-raiser will be played between Caversham and. High School Old Boys, two unbeaten teams in the third di-vision-competition, and with the Military Band, of the. First Battalion in attendance the public should be well catered for during the afternoon. RUGBY The match 'between- Southern ' and Taieri. to be played-at-CarisbrOok is being looked forward to with a great deal of' interest. The Southern is the only unbeaten team in the competition, and .so far has not had its line crossed. Taieri has also, been playing hvell, and is a much improved side. The country, team has a strong pack of forwards, while the backs are capable of giving a good exhibition. As a curtain-raiser the fourth grade match Zingari A and Taieri, two of the leading teams in this competition, should give a good display. University A will meet Zingari at the University Oval, and at Bishopscourt Kaikorai will meet University B. At Tahuna.Park a well-contested game should be witnessed between Alhambra and Union. On the Main Ground at Logan Park. Dunedin will play Pirates. Official guides will, be on sale. Unemployed will be admitted by" special turnstile in Burns street. Patrons are advised that owing to congestion at the .gates bicycles will not be admitted to the ground. RUGBY LEAGUE The Rugby League' will play the following matches at the Oval:—Athletio v. Pacific, at 1.30: City v. Christian. Brothers, at 2.45.
