YACHTING

OTAGO ASSOCIATION MEETING Mr W. O, Martin presided at a meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association held last night. The following delegates were present;—Messrs H. N. Treurn, W. 3. Davies, A. W. Hazelwood, E. T. Moller, D. Jenkins, A. Challis, C. Smith, J. Sraail, and A. Burt. The North-east Harbour Boating Club advised that owing to the illness of Captain E. R. Nicholas Mr D. .Jenkins had been appointed as the club’s delegate to the association in the meantime. A letter was received from the Canterbury Sailing and Power Boat Association advising that regatta would ho held at Lyttelton on Saturday, February 4, during the Sanders Cup contest. The Otago Association was asked if any boats from the province would compete.—The secretary reported that he had advised the Canterbury body to enter Avalon for the Jollicoo class championship race.—The secretary’s action was approved. The Burkes-St. Leonards Regatta Committee forwarded a copy of the programme for the regatta to be hold on Saturday, February 11.—It was pointed out that the amount of prize money for the races had not been shown on the programme, and it was decided that the secretary and Mr W. J. Davies communicate with the committee, and, after the prize money had been added, approve of the programme. Mr A. Challis was appointed to represent the association at the BurkesSt. Leonards regatta.
