CIVIL SERVICE CLUB’S MEETING As is usual about this time of the year athletes are in training for the coming Otago championships, so it was not surprising tiiat very satisfactory entries were received for the Civil Service Club’s meeting on the Caledonian Ground last evening. The programme staged before a fair attendance of spectators embodied five events, and provided an interesting hour and a-quar-ter. In the good time of Imin 59 3-ssec L. C. M'Lachlnn, from scratch, had no difficulty in winning the 880yds handicap. At the finish of the 100yds event the runners wore bunched, narrow tnarfius separating the first three placi'ngs. 'he final of the mile cycle race was quite exciting, the winner being only about a wheel ahead of the second placed rider. In the final spurt of the junior event Craig raced to the front to touch the tape a good 15yds ahead of the next boy. .Results: — One-mile Cycle Race. —First heat: C, Hansen (scr) 1, H.
