ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
DROWNING FATALITIES, Margaret Wirihana, aged 15, was drowned while bathing in the Gowan River.—Nelson Press Association. A schoolboy named Nalder Bruce, aged 13, was drowned whilst bathing at Ruakituri.—Gisborne Press Association. • MOTORIST KILLED. An accident resulting in the death of William Templeton, of Pahia, a single man, aged 22, occurred at Campers’ Creek, To Anau, yesterday. Templeton and a pillion rider, Alfred Cyril Crofts, aged 29, were proceeding towards Tuataperc and apparently failed to see a notice which stated that the road was closed owing to the approach to a bridge on the Tuatapcrc side having been washed away. The machine crashed through the barricade which had been placed across tho road, ran along the bridge, and dropped 15ft over the end into the stream below. Templeton received serious injuries, and died in the Riverton Hospital. Crofts had a miraculous escape, and suffered two fractured ribs, bruises, and shock. He is at present in the Riverton Hospital. —lnvercargill Press Association.,
