. HOLIDAYS FOR CHILDREN The mayor (Mr 11. S. Black) !ms received letters from several relief workers’ households asking if arrangements can be made for children to take advantage of Mr Black’s scheme for placing young people in the country for a few weeks during the Christmas vacation. His Worship trusts that people in the country who can afford to take a child or children for a short period during the summer will send their names and addresses to him at the earliest moment. It is desirable that definite arrangements should be made before the holidays. HOME ECONOMICS DISPLAY The attention of all relief workers is directed to the Home Economics Society’s exhibition, wbicb is to bo held on Wednesday and Thursday next (October 5 and 6) in the Pioneer Hall. A prominent feature of this exhibition will be a model vegetable garden plot, which is being exhibited by the local Unemployment Gardening Committee. All relief workers are cordially invited to inspect this exhibit. .Short talks on gardening matters will he given each afternoon. Admission is free. SCHEME NO. 5 Groups will report for work to-mor-row as under:— D.C.C. Reserves Department.—B a.m., at Opoho Football Ground, groups 502, 503, 504, 603, 604.
