(Received September 29, at 12.25 p.m.) 1 , There was an unprecedented scene in the Senate, when, for the first time irf the history of that august Chamber, it was declared a public place. The occasion marked the retirement of Mr W. M. Admans, who had been a ‘ Hansard ’ reporter since the inception of federation. He completed his last turn and was the subject of eulogistic references from members. The President (Senator P. J. Lynch) declared the Chamber a public place so as to enablo Mr Admans to reply.
