NAVAL COURT MARTIAL

[Per United Press Association.] . AUCKLAND, September 27. The trial by Naval Court Martial of Petty Officer Samuel George Adams, supply petty officer of H.M.S. Laburnum, was concluded to-day. Tbe accused was charged with improperly leaving his ship at Wellington on .May 15, and also with between January 1 and May 13, 1032, negligently performing his duty by failing to keep his books properly; between November 2, 1931, and May 13, 1932, negligently performing his duty by failing to hand over to the supply officer £l7 11s lOd, part of a sum of £IOB 10s lid, received by him for clothing and stores; fraudulently converting £l7 11s lOd. Accused was acquitted of the final charge. On the others he was ordered to bo kept in detention for thirty days and to forfeit two days’ pay. The sentence results in the accused being disrated from ■ supply petty officer to supply assistant, and also in tho loss of his good conduct stripes.
