ALHAMBRA FOOTBALL CLUB
SOCIAL TO JUNIOR MEMBERS
A social function for the junior teams of tho Alhambra Football Club was held in the dub’s pavilion at Opoho last night. Mr D. Gray (president) was in tho diair over an attendance of seventy-five junior and many oxplayers. Mr T. O’Shea represented the Otago Rugby Football Union, and in presenting tho 4th grade shield congratulated this team on its play during the season. lie mentioned that it was a pleasure to notice the way the team always gave it a “ go ” when tho opportunities came its wav.
Mr C. C’onghlan (captain), in accepting the shield, thanked Mr O'Shea for his remarks and assured everyone that his team, although it had had a very extended season, the members had enjoyed the games. He wished to thank their coach (Mr Leggett) for the attention he had given the team, for its success was solely due to him. All the members of the team appreciated his services and advice.
Mr King proposed the toast of the Rugby Union, and outlined for the benefit of the junior players tho constitution and work of the Management Committee, describing in detail tho work of tho various committees of ilu union.
Mr O’Shea suitably replied to the toast. The toasts —“ Our Coaches ” and “The Referees I ’—were liouuored. During tho evening a musical programme was presented by Messrs .1. Williams (banjo). N T . Larkins (violin), Henderson (ventrilotpiist), H. Russell (recitation). CL Marston (song), Master Page (novelty item), and by 11. Moore (conjuring). Tbo night was voted a great success, a fine feeling prevailing throughout. A special vote of thanks was carried in appreciation of the services of the seeretarv (Mr W. Hnv) ami the club captain air Harry Gillick).
