PffST CHALMERS CLUB Tlio annual meeting of the above club bold last night was presided over by Mr A. Carrington (club commodore). The Chairman said the first business would be_ to present the prizes won in club racing last season. ' The first yachting prize wont to Mr W. Watson and the second to Messrs Davis and Co. r l ho first motor boat prize was won by ?dr R. J Paul and the second by Mr L. Wilson.

The correspondence included communications from the other clubs. The Otago Club suggested that a meeting of club delegates bo hold early next month to arrange for a combined opening dav.

The annual icport. stated that during the season a ladies' day combined with a club picnic was hold ip. conjunction with tlte Otago Club at Company’s Pay. This outing proved to be a great success, and a similar outing could he looked iorward to during the coming season. Alter one or two postponements one chib race was bold under very favourable conditions. It was a I’it.v that the club members did not take more interest in this side of the sport, for the controlling officials and handicappors had to spend considerable time in preparing for any such fixtures. Tho club plant was now in first-class order. Thanks were duo to Mr J. Thorne, who worked for weeks repairing and renewing wharf. The repairs were of a permanent nature, and would be of considerable., help to members. 'J ho balance-sheet showed a favourable credit balance. Tins was very satisfactory, and was allowing for a number of subscriptions and fees written oft.

In moving the adoption of tho report, .Mr Carrington said the credit balance was satisfactory in view of the times. Members were indebted to the treasurer and secretary. Members wore unfortunate last season in having elnb races put off Tho new arrangements would, lie hoped, avoid a repetition of that experienced. Tho various club fixtures would bo arranged so as not to clash. Members had done a good deal of work on tho club property last season, and they would firing it still more up to date this year.

. Mr A. Wiseman said the chib was indebted to tiro Harbour Hoard tor assistance in improving the mooring facilities.

Tho annual report of tho Yacht and Motor Hunt Association was read futile secretary. The report expressed the hope that the good feeling existing between the affiliated clubs would lie maintained.

The Chairman thought the association had been up against it, and was

to bo congratulated on its present position. The affiliated clubs would pull together and help things along. Mr T. Anderson said the clubs would have to pull together and avoid a recurrence of what took place at 'the beginning of last season. The new rules made provision that the chib races would not clash. If they all pulled together success in the coming season was assniod. It was recognised that the chilis were experiencing the effects of the depression. Mr C. Smith, in reviewing the past season’s activities, said lie felt sure that last season's experience would servo to promote a hotter understanding in future. Mr J. Thorn thought the association was on tho right lines in the new rules, which should prove helpful to all the clubs.

Mr C. Kniulstriim thanked members for the invitation to attend the meeting. He was willing to put on a picture show for the club at any time. Me hoped flic coming season, which would ho difficult, would nevertheless bo successful. Tho Chairman thanked Mr Snndstrnm for his offer to put on the picture show. The election of officers resulted Messrs A. Carrington, commodore; G. A. Wiseman, immediate past commodore; J. Timm, vice-commodore; H. Kemp, rear commodore; H. Hunter, secretary; Jl. Watson, treasurer; C. Smith and T. Anderson, delegates; J. M. Crawford, auditor; If. Wilson, custodian; A. Miller, 1?. Hunter. W. Tait, L. Wilson, (J. Thorn, H. Dale, G. Densem, AY. M'Cormaek, committee: T Anderson, C. Smith, A. Carrington, P. Hunter, and G, A. Wiseman, Sailing Committee; H. Dale and the Sailing Committee to he motor hatidicappers; C, Smith. A. Carrington. T. Anderson, and W. D. Campbell, timekeepers. Mr Carrington and Mr Thorn were appointed to confer with other chili representatives in regard to fixing a combined opening day. Mr J. Thorn thought that'the various dull courses for regattas should ho accurately laid out in regard to length. The new association rules should cover that important point. Mr T. Anderson thought that when a course was altered any race in question should be rcsailcd without reference to the association. Mr Wiseman said the Port Club courses were accurately measured. Mr Kemp pointed out that the association had no purisdietion over a regatta committee, which was not a efnli committee. Mr Thorn pointed out his reasons for bringing up the subject of correct length of courses. When a boat owner was liable to lie penalised in respect To the speed of liis boat over a measured course ho should not he penalised because the course itself was not correct. It was resolved to ask that the words “ and regatta committee ” he added to association Rule 0, alter the word club, 11 was also decided to ask that the club he allotted two racing days on the I.dms. Invitations from the Queen's Drive Rowing Club and tho Cricket Club to their opening dav functions were accepted.
