ST. MARTIN'S MICHAELMAS FAIR
Michaelmas Fair, organised by the St. Martin’s Church. North-east Valley, was opened in the Sunday School Hall, Millar street, by the Very Rev. Dean Cruickshank last evening. There was a most encouraging number of purchasers, and. the takings for the night augur well for the total realisation of the effort, which will continue to-night and on Saturday afternoon and evening. At intervals in the business session last night an enjoyable programme was presented by members of the Girls’ Club. To-night’s entertainment will he a sketch by lady members of the choir, and on Saturday evening Miss Doreen Wheeler’s pupils will give a dancing display. Saturday afternoon will be a gala occasion for the children, for a fancy dress competition will bo held, and good prizes are being offered.
Those in charge of the stalls are:— Ladies’ Guild stall—Mesdanies Macdonald, Latimer, and Boulton; produce. Mesdames Still and Guy; Girls’ Guild stall, Mrs Hogg and Misses M. and N. Peart and E. M'Kersey; flower, Misses A. and L. Reilly; sweets—Mrs Paul and Misses Hurd, Tyrrell, and Anderson; cake, Mesdames Brough and M'Millan; ice cream, Mrs and the two Misses Dodd; refreshments —Mesdames Harris, Roberts, and Hopkins; Christmas tree, the two Misses Dodd: children’s stall—Misses M. Still, M. Moore, A. Gillies, N. Rive, and E. MTvor; boys’ exhibition, W. Bates and C. Hutton.
