BROAD BAY BOATING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING Tlxo annual meeting of the Broad Bay Boating Club was held last night, when Dr N. C. Speight (commodore) presided over a large attendance of members. The annual report recorded another successful season. The finances of the club had suffered on account of the bad times, but it was no worse off than many other sporting bodies, and the committee felt that the club had reason to be satisfied with the results of the year’s activities. The arrangements for the combined opening day were in the hands of the Broad Bay Club, and the function took place in the grounds of Mrs Charles Speight. The weather was ideal, and there was a largo gathering of yachtsmen. The annual regatta on New Year’s day was a success, and good racing was witnessed. In addition to the usual club races a sweepstake race was held. The thanks of the members was due to all the firms and persons who helped throughout the season. Though the expenditure exceeded the income the finances of the club were in a sound condition. In moving the adoption of the report the Chairman said that the affairs of the club had been carried on as economically as possible, and the committee had reason to be pleased with the result. The finances were slightly lower than they were last year, but the club was still in a sound condition. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
