BLOW TO HOLLYWOOD
FRANCE’S NEW RULE PARIS, September 10. American talking motion pictures in which French is substituted for English will bo unable to outer France in the future, a decree published by the Ministrv of Education ruled. The decree provides that substitution of the French language must bo done in French territory. Consequently, American producers desiring to adapt their films to the French market must make arrangements in France, rather than in Hollywood, for the change in sound accompaniment. The decree provides that any foreign language picture can be shown only in fivcT cinemas in the Seine Department and five other cinemas in the rest of France.
