£4OO DAMAGES

MOTOR ACCIDENT CLAIM [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Aupgust 1. An accident at Kilbirnie on the evening of May 19 last, in which Charles Richard Ingram, a retired public servant, of Rongotai, was struck by a motor car and injured, had its sequel in a claim for £BOO damages against Robert George Thompson, salesman, of Miramar. The hearing was concluded before Mr Justice MacGregor and a jury this evening. A verdict was returned in favour of Ingram, who was awarded £-100 damages. The car was being driven by a son of Thompson, who was sitting alongside. His son gained his driver’s license next day. Evidence was given indicating that the plaintiff walked across the street, and was struck by the oncoming car.

Thompson, in evidence, said he took Ingram home and offered to ic;et a doctor, but Ingram declined, saying it was his own fault. This was denied by Ingram’s wife.
