Dr 'Marshall Macdonald, who has been appointed a member of the War Pensions Board, left by the express this morning for Wellington, lie will take up residence there, but will visit all tho centres with the board. In connection with tho vacancy on the Otago University Council caused by, the resignation of Dr W. Marshall Macdonald, one of the representatives of the Otago District Court of Convocation, Archdeacon Fitchett (M.A., Cambridge University, and ALA., ad eunuein. New Zealand University) has been nominated by Dr G. E. Thompson and Dr W. Newlauds. - Mr Colin Oliver, a pupil of Mr W. Paget Gale, has been appointed organist ana choirmaster of Chalmers Presbyterian Church. Mr C, E. Cole has been appointed! solicitor to the Public Trust m succession to Mr G. G. Rose, whose appointment as solicitor to tho Treasury was recently announced. Air Cole was in private practice in Dunedin before joining the Public Trust as assistant solicitor ten years ago. Since 1927 ho has been solicitor to tho Rural Intermediate Credit Board. New guests at the Grand Hotel include Air Walter Studer (Zurich < Switzerland). Air H. A. Lawrence (Auckland), Alessrs G. G. Callendeii and T. F. G. Wise (Wellington),, and H. J. Nun week and J. S. Radley (Christchurch). Air H. Newson (Christchurch), Air F. J. Robertson (Timaru), Airs and Aliss Bliss (Pukepito), and Air and Mrs J. A. Broom (Winton) have booked at tho City Hotel.
