TRAIN WRECKERS
TWO ATTEMPTS IN HEW SOUTH WALES SLEEPERS PLACED OK LINE Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, June 15. (Received June 15, at 10 a.m.) Two deliberate attempts were made to wreck trains at a lonely spot near Winghnin. Crowded with passengers the North Coast mail struck several sleepers placed across the lines. Soon afterwards a patrol of linesmen found four of the sleepers replaced on the lino to derail a local passenger train. The police and railway detectives are concerned about the number of attempts to derail trains in the Metropolitan area during last month. The North Coast mail was travelling fast when the engine struck the sleepers and carried them several hundred yards before the train could be stopped. A serious accident could easily have happened. The locality is rugged, with deep cuttings.
