Ratrols in till lulls are eonslaully parading, and no rolleelion of persons is allowed. A meeting of relief workers was-lo have been hold at the Basin Reserve al 10 o'clock, but it was met by looked gates and the police, and it did not eventuate. Two meetings of workers were held at the Trades | lull. Over LHOd relief workers turned n;> this morning, receiving .staiul-hy pay. It was a very wet morning. Twenty-live jobs wero partly maimed, protection for the men at work being considered. The Winter Show Association has been threatened with the demolition of its buildings if it continues to employ small gangs. ■ Inquiries reveal that rather more looting than was realised last night occurred. Jewellers’ windows wero the worst sufferers, but the amount of goods stolen is really small. Some few pairs of boots and some overcoats were taken from other shops, but so quickly was the position taken in hand by the police that looting on the scale that occurred in Auckland was impossible. About 1,000 men wero back on unemployed jobs to-day, and many more would return if assured of protection.—Press Association. TRAMWAY STRIKE TRIBUNAL.
