MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The Management Committee of the Otago Football Association met last night, Mr J. Simpson presiding over the following members:—Messrs F. Ball, A. Stevens, A. Haig, J. Jeffery, and A. M'Lennan. F.A. TROPHY CHALLENGE. Advice was received from the N.Z.F.A. that June 11 was acceptable to Canterbury as the date of the F.A. Trophy match. It was reported that a meeting of the selectors was to be held shortly to select plovers for training for the match, which will take place in Dunedin. CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION. The New Zealand Association advised that the date of the closing of entries for the Chatham Cup competition had been extended to May 14, when entries would close definitely. The Port Chalmers Club forwarded an pntry for the Otago division of tho cup competition. CLASHING OF COLOURS. Attention to the clashing of colours worn by players in the junior grades was drawn by tho Referees’ Club, which asked tho committee to circularise clubs to the effect that players must not wear colours similar to their opponents.’ Tho committee decided to act on the request. DISCONTINUANCE OF BROADCASTING, Replying to the association’s protests against the -discontinuance _ of Soccer broadcasts, the Broadcasting Board wrote that as the board had been in existence only since January last, it could not bo held responsible for anything prior to that date. The position had been very fully considered on receipt of tho association’s previous letter, and the decision to carry out broadcasts of Rugby Football had been reached in the belief that such broadcasts were likely to prove of interest to a much larger section of listeners. Mr Ball; That is open to serious question. After the secretary had reported on his negotiations with a B class station to broadcast descriptions of the game, tho committee decided to hold the question of broadcasting in abeyance. PILFERING AT THE OVAL. Tho Technical College Old Boys’ Club wrote as follows:—“ Wo wish to draw attention to the pilfering going on in the Oval pavilion. Last Saturday a player had a new pair of shoes .stolen, and on this Saturday one of our players had a new pair of Housers stolen. The players remove their valuables and give them to someone on the ground, but it is a high state of affairs if the same must be done with their clothes.” The club asked if it were possible for it to have a key for the room used by its members, so that the room would bo locked while the players were on the field. Another inquiry was as to tho number of teams allowed lo use one room. Mr Simpson said the association had done everything to stop the thieving. The City Council had been written to, notices had been posted in the pavilion, and the clubs had been asked to warn their players to be careful with their valuables; yet tho pilfering continued. Mr 11. Grant, representing tho club, waited on the committee and complained of tho thieving. He mentioned that one player had placed some money in tho lining of his bag, yet it had been stolen. The Chairman said the committee realised the worry to tho players, and was out to help them. Mr Grant said ho was frequently at the Oval in charge of all thd rooms, but lie had not succeeded in stopping the thefts. On Mr Ball's motion tho committee decided to write to tho City Council, pointing out that the nuisance continued, and asking that lockers for holding clothes should ho placed in each room. As to the club obtaining a key, the committee decided to refer the club to the caretaker of the pavilion. GENERAL. Advice is to he sent to clubs with junior teams that matches set down for the Oval must he started on time, so that later matches should not be delayed. The City Council advised that the association’s application for the use of Ellis Park for tho season had been granted on the usual charge of £5, plus £1 for marking the lines and erecting the posts.
