■ The Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) returned from the north last evening. Mr W. F. Sutton, secretary of the Otago Motor Club, left this morning on a tour of inspection of the Main South road. Intimation has been received fromEngland that Mr George W. Davies, of this city, has been elected a fellow, of the faculty of science (F.F.Sc.). The faculty of science was established to provide a national organisation representing the general interests of science as a whole, and to promote every possible faculty for intercourse between the various specialised bx-anches. Mr A. H. Allen left for Wellington by the expi-ess this morning to attend a meeting of the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. Refex-enco to the death of Dr Waddell was made at yesterday’s meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery, members standing in silence as a resolution of sympathy _ was carried. Professor. Hewitson is to draw up a minute expressing the feelings of the Presbytery for presentation at the next meeting.Messrs J. L. Passmore, F. J. Williams, and P. W. Curtis, of the executive of the ‘Otago Motor Club, left this morning to attend a conference in Invercargill. Grand Hotel guests include Mr Horace A. Smith (Sydney), Mr H. P. ; Johnston (Auckland), Mr H. T. Red- s ding (Wellington), and Mr R. D. Lumsden (Invercargill).
