APPRENTICES AND EMPLOYERS
THE GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR REVIEW OF AGREEMENTS [From Oor Paruaurntart Riportir.] WELLINGTON, May 4. Provision is to be made in the Finance Bill to deal with an important aspect of the apprentices question. The clause will Be in the direction of enabling employers to make adjustments regarding the number of apprentices employed. Explaining the matter this afternoon, Mr Forbes said the clause would be designed to meet situations where the employers had through economio losses to close down their businesses. In many cases these employers had articled apprentices for whom they had no work and for whom they had no money to pay wages. The clause would enable apprenticeship agreements affected by these considerations to be reviewed by a magistrate.
