i RECORD BROKEN AT WESTPORT [Pub United Pebss Association.] WESTPORT, February 25. At the swimming carnival to-night 0. M'Conville (Canterbury), in an unofficial attempt on the New Zealand 50yds record of 26 3-ssec, swam the distance in 26 l-ssec. In the 100yds junior girls, Joan Walls, of Westport, swam 74 8-ssec, which heats the New Zealand record by 2-ssec. KIWI CLUB'S CHAMPIONSHIPS The first of the series of races for the men’s championship of the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club was decided at the Municipal Baths last night, the 50yds championship resulting:— Reg. Geddes ... 1 A. Thomas ; ... 2 ' J. H. M'Gregor 3 There were six starters. Geddes swam a great race, and although he lost a little ground through another swimmer practically swimming on his heels at one stage he won by 2yds, there being scarcely a touch between second and third. The time was 27 2-sseo.
