PAHIATUA RACES. Tho weather was fine for the second day of tho Pahiatua races. The attendance was fair. Results:— Trial Plate, 55sovs. 6f and 55yds.— 4 Sir Spear 1, 1 Morrath 2,2 Kalmuk 3. Won by a head; one and a-half lengths. Time, linin 19sec. Pongaroa High-weight Handicap, 75sovs. 7f.—4 Blacksmith 1, 1 Royal Songster 2, 3 Mahora 3. Won by length and a-half; length. Time; Imin 29 l-ssec. Tano Hack Handicap, COsovs. 6f and 55yds.—T Derry Bello 1, 3 Chief Clerk 2, 4 Spearopa 3. Won easily. Time, Imin 19 3-ssec. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. A Hamilton Association telegram states that with a continuance of the present weather the championship regatta to-morrow will be held under ideal conditions. Of the seventy-four crews entered, the majority have arrived, and over the past week the Waikato River has presented a scene of activity. This afternoon a civic reception was accorded the visiting oarsmen and officials.
