“ VERY DRASTIC MOVE.”

CHRISTCHURCH, January 28.. “ This is a very drastic move,” said Mr Beauland, acting chairman of the Citizens’ Unemployment Relief _ Committee, commenting on tho decision of the Unemployment Board to suspend the No. 5 scheme in some of the counties of Canterbury. Mr Beanland added that there were scores of men working on relief in the country districts who were not physically fit for harvesting work. The National Flower Show was opened at Christchurch to-day in the King Edward Barracks by Sir Heaton Rhodes. There was A large attendance. UNWARRANTED ATTACK. “ One paragraph is scandalous, as it makes an unwarranted and unfounded attack on a magistrate,” said Mr Justice Adams to counsel for the New Zealand Sheepfarmers* Agency in the Supreme Court, Christchurch, to-day, when counsel applied for an addition of two clauses to the amended statement of claim supporting an application for a writ of prohibition, the latter clause of which suggested prejudice on the part of the magistrate, Mr E. D. Mosley. The defendants were Mr Mosley and Charles Hill, farmer, of Burnham, and plaintiff wished to set aside a judgment dealing with threshing charges. The judge refused to allow the addition of the two clauses, and dismissed the anplicatiqn for a writ of prohibition.— Press Association.
