BANNOCKBURN APPEAL
The second list of subscriptions in connection with the scheme for the preservation ol the battlefield of Bannockburn has been issued, bringing the total up to £4,452 18s 4d. The committee lias purchased fiftyeight acres surrounding the Borestonc with a view to securing the dominating position of the historic site against further encroachment. The subscriptions Will require to be substantially augmented before the committee can complete the scheme. The lion, treasurer is Mr Joseph Jardiue, solicitor, 80 Port street, Sti Among the contributions in the second list are £515 17s 4d from the New York City (U.S.A.) Bannockburn Appeal Committee; £IOO from Sir D. M, Stevenson, Bart,, LL.D.; £6O from Scotsmen in Trinidad (per Thomas Boyd) ; £SO from Mr Alexander Spccdic, Cowrie House, Perth; and' £4O from the St. Andrew’s Society of Aberdeen. Sums under £2 amount to £155 15s 3d.
