BROTHER DESPERADOES

DEATH PREFERRED TO CAPTURE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. VANCOUVER, January 5. Harry Young and his brother Jennings, who were suspected of murder, accepted their mother’s published advice and killed themselves rather than submit to capture by officers who surrounded their hiding place. Six officers were killed by the brothers on Saturday. Thirty officers surrounded the building in which the brothers were sleeping. They projecetd tear gas into the room, and several volleys were exchanged. Finally Harry called from a window: “Como and get us. We shall be dead.” Several shots followed, and when the gas cleared away the officers found both of them dead. They were the most formidable desperadoes of recent years, and they had killed two policemen and several citizens before Saturday’s affray. The chief of police stated that the brothers faced each other and fired at the same instant, each dying with a bullet through his forehead.
