‘INDISCREET'
GLORIA SWANSON AT EMPIRE TO-MORROW ‘ Indiscreet,’ Gloria Swanson’s latest United Artists picture, is the product of an unusual array of talent, the names appearing on the production credit list being sufficient to fill a generous chapter in filmland’s ‘ Who’s Who?’ In addition to the star, there is the combination of De Sylva. Brown, and Henderson, producers of the picture, noted for their unbroken success in pictures with ‘Sunny Side Up ’ and ‘Just Imagine.’ The director is Leo M'Carey, regarded as one of the outstanding of the young directors and whose name is being heard with increasing frequency as the result of his work is of ‘ Let’s Go Native ’ and ‘Part Time Wife.’ The leading man is Ben Lyon, whose engagement for more than two years in a single role, in the making of ‘Hell’s Angels.’ is something of a record. The oast also presents the names of such established players as Monroe Owsley, whose outstanding characterisation in ‘ Holiday ’ brought him instantaneous screen recognition, Barbara Kent, Arthur Lake, and Maude Eburno. Miss Swanson’s costumes, comprising every type of ensemble essentia] to the smart wardrobe, were created for her by Rene Hubert, whose ability as a designer is reci)gnised in America and Continental Europe alike.
Sets, ranging from a Long Island home to elaborate apartments done in the modern manner, are the work of Richard Day. art director for United Artists.
‘ Indiscreet,’ which is coming to the Empire Theatre to-morrow, is a comedy around a modern girl’s crusade to prevent a suitor from marrying her younger sister, with sometimes amusing and sometimes near tragic results.
