Mr and Mrs Warren Boyd and family are spending the Christmas vacation at Brighton.

Mrs Martin and Miss Martin are spending a holiday at Brighton.

Dr Benham and Miss Ruth Benham, of Christchurch, are spending Christmas at Pleasant Point, as the guests of Dr and Mrs Phillip Benham.

Mrs Innes-Walker and her two small sons are spending Christmas -at Taieri Mouth,

Mrs Boyd Dunlop is spending Christmas motoring through Otago Central.

Miss Linda Barnett is spending Christmas in Christchurch, and will afterwards go on to Wellington,

Miss Ina Clarke, Woodhaugh, returned to-day from a long holiday in Australia.

Sirs C. Dolling, of Adelaide, arrived to-day from Australia, and is the? guest of her mother, Mrs E. S. Clarke, Woodhaugh. 1

The members of the Sketching Club of the Otago Art Society (incorporated), in common with other educational institstes held their break-ing-up ceremony last Saturday afternoon. Having' no club room at present, these students of Nature held the closing function amidst the pleasing and artistic surroundings of that beautiful favourite rendezvous— Fraser’s Gully. Under the canopy of, heaven a delightful afternoon was spent, and it was tho general opinion that the season had been one of much profit and pleasure,_ and that those who had been regular in their attendance had shown considerable improvement in technique, and that the standard_ of their out-door sketches had also improved.

On Monday afternoon the president, Lady Ferguson, entertained the members of the executive of the Otago Women’s Clubs at her residence, “Wychwood.” The afternoon was beautifully fine, and a pleasant hour was spent in the garden, which is just now a wealth of glorious summer bloom. Those present were Mrs Gerald Ferguson, Mrs P. R. Sargood, Mrs W. F. Edmond, Mrs J. Hutchison, Mrs A. A. Fairbairn, Mrs J. R. Blues, Mrs A. G. Melville, Mrs W. Holmes, Mrs R. Hudson, Miss Ross and Miss Nicholson.

An afternoon tea party was given in the Otago Women’s Club room by the committee of the Society of Women Musicians of Otago in honour of two members of committee who are leaving Dunedin. Miss Molly Vickers, who is shortly to be married, was presented with *a beautiful crystal water jug; Mrs J. G. Anderson, who is leaving for Balclutha, was the recipient of a charming bouquet of roses. The president, Miss Emilie Logie, on behalf ot the society, thanked the ladies _ loi their many past services, and wished them every happiness for the future. Although removed from Dunedin, neither lady- is severing her connection with the Society of Women Musicians. Those present were Miss Emilie Logie, Mrs H. C; Campbell, Misses B. and I. Barth, M. Frazer, A. Sinclair, A. Wilson, and E. Yorston.

Miss Anne E. Robinson, who has been absent from New Zealand for upwards of thirty' years, arrived by the Rotorua to visit her sisters, Mrs F. W. Petre, St. Clair, and Mrs 0. E. Macfie, Vauxhall. She is accompanied by Miss Burch, of London.
