REGENT'S CHRISTMAS ATTRACTION One of the screen’s most unique personalities, loved the world over for himself his songs, and his vivacity, will be seen at the Regent Theatre on Saturday next in his new starring Parar mount picture, ‘ The Smiling Lieutenant,’ directed by Ernest Eubitsch, maker of ‘ The Love Parade and The Patriot.’ He is Maurice Chevalier, the smiling French entertainer, whose lovemaking and love-singing have made him the idol of two continents, llm stardirector combine which produced the lyrical fantasy, * The Love Maurice Chevalier and Ernst Lubitsch, have made another rollicking love drama, modern, swift, up to date, m which Chevalier sings. Supporting the star are two distinguished leading ladies, Claudette Colbert and'Miriam Hopkins, and Charles Ruggles, the joyous comedian, who was so good as Charley’s Aunt. _ The Smiling Lieutenant ’ is a rollicking romance, with all the love and song appeal of his first moving picture. Innocents of Paris ’; with all the luxury of setting and story of ‘ The Love Parade, ‘ The Smiling Lieutenant ’ gives Che-, yalior ample opportunity to project his personality by his voice. Oscar Strauss, the famous Viennese composer and Clifford Grey, lyricist, prepared the original music for the production, which is an adaptation of Ihe Malta Dream.’ In this rollicking and fantastic stow of a young lieutenant whose handsome presence, meaningful smile, and captivating love-making win the hearts of two girls, Chwaher sings three songs, including While Hearts Are Singing ’ and One More Hour To Love.’ Roth Miss Colbert and Miss Hopkins join in the singing. Completing the programme for Christmas week, the management will present on stage a delightful miniature pantomime produced by Miss Lily Stevens, in conjunction with Mr Alec Regan.' entitled ‘ The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, with a cast of twenty clever juvenile performers.
