The Principal of the King Edward Technical College wrote stating that the college would do its best to help in making a success of the proposed secondary schools’ boys’ life saving competition. , . The Rector of the Otago Boys’ High School wrote stating that he did not favour the multiplication of such mterschool competitions and such events as tlie ' secondary : schools’ football tournament, the established cricket matches, and the secondary schools athletic sports meeting stood on a different rooting, concerning as they did a large number of boys, and. being closely associated with school feeling. The proposed life saving competition would bring in only five or six boys who would require a good share or time and attention from the school gymnasium instructor.
