The House of Commons agreed to the House of Lords’ amendment to the Statute of Westminster that it should operate from the date of the Royal assent, but rejected a shelving amendment proposed by Mr E. Majoribanks, tin effect of which, the Speaker declared, would be to wreck the Bill.
