THE CLEVEREST CRIMINAL
TRACKED BY SHERLOCK HOLMES “ The cleverest criminal in the world,” was Sherlock Holmes’s description of the evil Professor Moriarty, the leader of an unscrupulous band of forgers and murderers, and it was to him that the criminologist attributed the responsibility of more than half the world’s crime. As cunningly as the Wizard of Baker Street set traps for this menace, Moriarty succeeded in evading them all, until. at last, entangled in a chain of evidence based on Sherlock Holmes’s amazing deductions, his downfall was brought about. The citizens of Dunedin will have an opportunity of seeing this great detective unravel the most complicated and mysterious crime ever recorded in the annals of police history, when the film ‘ The Sleeping Cardinal ’ is screened at the Regent Theatre. As the film progresses so the mystery becomes more intense and the audience is worked up to a pitch when the denouement comes and brings a very satisfactory finish to,_ as you will agree, a very enjoyable night’s entertainment. Arthur Wontner, noted English stage player, portrays the role of Sherlock Holmes, while lan Fleming as Holmes’s professional friend, Doctor Watson, is delightful.
