PHAR LAP’S ARRIVAL

[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, November 24. Phar Lap’s attendant (T. Woodcock) said the trip had been wholly uneventful. It was the first time the champion had been on a ship since his racing career began, but ho seemed to enjoy the change, and ate .well. # His companions were a troupe of circus animals —broncos, mules, and donkeys. Mr Neilson, a veterinary surgeon, and an apprentice (Martin) will join Woodcock later if the trip to America is continued. ’ Woodcock said he had nothing to add to what had already been cabled regarding the American.venture.

WRESTLING

MEESKE V. WALKER Tile Meeske-Walker professional contest, which is to be staged at the Town Hall to-morrow night, will bo the last contest of the season. It will be a clash between two champions, ami it ts considered the best match that the Otago Wrestling Association has arranged. In their previous encounter for tho British Empire championship each had a fall to his credit when the referee awarded Walker a penalty fall for Meesko holding on to the ropes, it would appear that the referee erred m giving a penalty fall, and that the correct procedure would have been to order both men to the centre of the ring. However, Meeske will now have an opportunity of reversing the Auckland decision in his contest to-morrow night. There is no doubt both men are expert matmen. While Walker is considered the stronger, Meeske is the more expert in jiu-jitsu work. This will be Walker’s first appearance in Dunedin, while Meesko is already known to Dunedin enthusiasts, as he met and defeated Stanley Buresii here. George Walker arrived from tho north yesterday, and Billy Meesko and his manager, A. Bain, will arrive by the express this evening. Tho association has arranged to stage four first-class preliminary bouts, all of which should prove very interesting. Mr W. Goughian will officiate as the third man in the ring for the main bout. For tho convenience of Port Chalmers and Mosgiel patrons, the railway authorities have ao-reed to delay the 10.35 p.m. trams until ten minutes after tho completion of the contest. The box plan tor reserves will close at 4.30 p.m. to-mor-row. There is no extra charge for reserving Particulars of tho box plan sales are advertised in this issue.

HIGH SGHOGL V. WAITAKI SENIOR AND JUNIOR ELEVENS The annual matches between ike first and second elevens of the Waitaki and Otago Boys’ High Schools were continued yesterday afternoon, when the Waitaki senior eleven carried its total from 113 for two wickets to 247, and dismissed the local eleven for 51. * Kent, who had collected 54 in the morning, increased his total to 92, when ho was caught out of his crease when attempting a short run. Lanoy also batted well for in’s 33, and the visitors’ innings closed just after the tea adjournment. With such a formidable total to overtake the local eleven adopted the wrong tactics in forcing the scoring when the light was bad. The team should have maintained a defensive attitude until to-day. As it happened, Laney and Smith, who bowled unchanged, soon went through the side and finished up with good averages. Details: — WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL. First Innings. Kindley did not give a chance in his innings of 80, which included eleven 4’s and a 6, while Macassoy hit six 4’s and a G. The Waitaki boys batted with the disadvantage of the bad light, and could only register 109 runs. The last wicket foil just on 6 o’clock. Scores:—
