A feature of tho holiday traffic for tho Bank Holiday week-end is the boom in travel to Scotland. Seven expresses are expected to leave Euston and tho London terminus of the Lon-don-Midland-Scottish line for the north to-day. Over the week-end 3,600 sleeping berths were reserved and 100 motor cars were booked for transport. All tho railways report an increase in tho use of cheap rates for the carriage of motors by people who are starting on road tours and desire to get into tho country as quickly as possible. Motoring organisations have issued warnings ami suggestions to drivers for the prevention of accidents. The Automobile Association prepared “ routes ” for its members representing 1,800,000 miles each day, and a new departure means covering 20,000 miles for holiday flights. HOLIDAY IH SYDNEY SPORTING FIXTURES HELD. SYDNEY, August 3. To-day is Bank Holiday, and various sporting fixtures are being held in showery weather. Tho last Rugby Union match before tho selection of the Australian side for New Zealand was played at Sydney cricket ground in the presence of a small attendance. Australia defeated The Rest by 38 to 29. Malcolm captained Australia and B. Egan captained The Rost.
