Ho hoped that the Republic would respect tho rights of religion. The only petty sit of the magnificent victory is tne almost maniacal destruction of Royalist emblems in shops, and the hasty obliteration of coats of arms, formerly proudly displayed. Tho Minister of Finance has forbidden the members of the Royal family and relatives to the fourth degree to soil property until Crown property has been taken over by tho Republic, which is offering the palaces and gardens to municipalities.
