The ‘Morning Post’ says: “Mr Forbes lias set an example of prudent, courageous finance, which ought not to bo lost on cither Mr Philip Snowden (Chancellor of the Exchequer) or Mr J. H. Scullin (Prime Minister of Australia). New Zealand has suffered as much as any other country under the maelstrom of tlm world depression, yet whereas Australia is still shirking the issue, Mr Forbes has wasted no time in bringing the situation under control before it became unmanageable. His programme embodies just those measures which Sir Otto Niemeyer recommended for Australia. Improvident governments like our own, which cuts its coat without regard to the cloth, would .be well advised to take a leaf out of Mr Forbes’s book.” ANNOUNCEMENT WELCOMED [Feb United Puess Association.] STRATFORD, Fcbrhary 17.
