QUEENSTOWN NOTES
Mr and Mrs W. J. Pritchard, of Christchurch, have been spending a holiday in Queenstown. They were guests at the White Star Hotel. Mr A. Blair and Miss Blair, overseas visitors from Glasgow, wore among recent guests at the White Star Hotel. Mr P. C. Neill, accompanied_ by his two daughters (Mrs H. S, Fenwick and Mrs C. W. Rattray, of Dunedin) and his niece (Miss Leatham, of England), is visiting Queenstown. Mr J. Anderson and Mi; S. F. Jackson, overseas visitors from the British .Isles, spent a few days in Queenstown recently. The Hon. P. A. do la Porrollo and his son (Mr Harold do la Perrelle, of the staff of the Winton ‘ Record ’) visited Queenstown last week. At the prize-giving ceremony _ of St. Hilda’s College in connection with the closing of the school for the summer holidays Miss Nocla Curtis, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Leon Curtis, of Queenstown, tied with another pupil for tho Storey Cup, which is presented for competition amongst the junior boarders in the sports section. Mr and Mrs Christenson, of Dunedin, spent a short holiday in Queenstown recently. During their stay they were guests at the White Star Hotel. Mr T. Watson, of South Africa, visited tho Wakatipu district last week. Airs E. S. Hills, of St. Louis (U.S.A.), stayed at tho White Star Hotel recently. Miss Rowley, of Invercargill, is the guest of Dr and Mrs Ecrgusbu, Arrowtown. ,
Mr and Mrs Gilliam, of Dunedin, are holidaying in- Queenstown. Miss Crombio and Miss Gill, of Dunedin, are among guests at Palmyra House. .
Mrs W. H. Pearce, a former resident of Queenstown, who now resides in Dunedin, recently spent an enjoyable holiday in Queenstown. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs W. E. Thomas.
Mr E. Rhoades, of Brisbane, visited Queenstown recently. Mrs W. E. Griffin, of Gore, is the guest of her brother-in-law, Mr A. Griffin, Hallcnsteiu street. Mrs G. M. Griffiths, of Brisbane, was among recent arrivals at the White Star Hotel. Recent Wellington visitors include : Air A. J. Conway, Mr V. F. 'Weblcy, Air G. L. Anderson, Airs A. G. AECulloeh. Mr D. Williamson.
Alias Evio Clarke, who for the past three years has been on the staff of the local public school, lias accepted a position at tho Levnka School, Fiji. Miss Clarke’s departure will cause much regret, as she was a very popular teacher. She will bo missed by a wide circle of friends.
Air J. W. Craigie. of Mosgiol, visited Queenstown during the week. Mrs J. J. O’Kaue and her son Dick, of Alexandra, who have been on an extended visit to Sydney, returned homo during the week. Rhodes, of Timaru, spent a few days in Queenstown recently. ■ Aliss Frances Harris, who has resided in Queenstown with her aunt, Airs Geo. AlacKenzio, Lako View, for some years, left on Alouday for Alatamata, where she intends to reside permanently.
Air W. T. Johnstone, Chief Postmaster, Invercargill, spent a few days in Queenstown this week. Ho was a guest at the White Star Hotel.
Air J. G. Young, Inspector of Post Offices, Dunedin, visited the Wakatipu district recently. Air A. Gavin, who is studying at Holy Cross College, Alosgiel, is the guest of his mother, Airs Al. J. Gavin, Ballarat street.
Airs W. N. Benson, of Dunedin, is holidaying in Queenstown. Air T. Tyrrell, manager of tho Ocean Accident Insurance Company, Dunedin, paid a short visit to Queenstown during the week. He was accompanied by Air V. Wobley, the company’s inspector, of Wellington.
