Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Mr Frederick Montague (Under-Secretary of Air) stated that negotiations had been completed for a regular air mail route from Cairo to the Cape, and the northern section would, probably begin to operate in February ' . The Cairo-Capc airway is heralded in commercial air circles as an outstanding enterprise. Linking with the Indian air mail service, it will reduce the time of transit between London and Cape To vn to eleven days. Tho ground organisation along the route, which measures 5,700 miles, .involving the establishment of twenty-seven air stations, witb hangars, wireless weather offices, Kteff quarters, and in some cases hotels, and thirty intermediate landing grounds, is being developed rapidly.
