PARTY LEADER ELECTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. OTTAWA, December 17. A message from Toronto states that the Liberal Party of Ontario, in convention, elected as its permanent leader Mr Mitchell Frederick Hepburn, member of the Imperial Parliament for Elgin West. Ho defeated Mr Elmore Philpott, a Toronto newspaperman, by several hundred votes when Mr Sinclair, who was for seven years the party leader in tho Legislature, withdrew.
