SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS
At a meeting; of the Executive Committee recently held in Wellington the following members were in attendance —Messrs W. D. Ilevell (president), A M. Seaman, H. Valentine, Ernest W. Hunt, and J. L. Griffin The committee' recorded a vote ot sympathy with the widow and children of the late Mr T. G. Briokoll of Dunedin, who was a representative on the council of the society for the Otago district. The following were admitted to membership of the society:—Mr P. W. Bar; low (Gisborne'). Mr P. J. Hepbuni (New Plymouth), Messrs Prank Foss, S. H. Perry, and H. M. I. MTvor (Wellington), and Mr P. W. Miller (Christchurch). • The following were transferred to the status of Associate Public Accountant: —Mr J. H. Bartlett, (Auckland), Mr P. E. Clarke (Hnwera), and Mr P. C Browne (Christchurch). The committee is having prepared for publication in the society's official organ an ar tide warning members against issuing certificates covering the estimated 'its nl n company. A grant of £6fl for the coming yeai to assist in commercial education wamade to the Palmerston North Tech nical School. A deputation to the Minister of Im. ternal Affairs has been arranged, and this deputation will place before the Minister details in regard to the society’s proposed application for a Royal charter. At -'a recent meeting of the Educa tion Committee a revised panel of-ex-aminers for the accountancy subjects of the examinations conducted by the University, of New Zealand was forwarded to the latter body.
