ST. PAUL’S SALE OF WORK
The sale of work organised by the Ladies’ Guild of St. Paul’s, which was opened in the schoolroom, Stuart street, yesterday, was well patronised, and satisfactory takings were realised in both the afternoon and evening. Iho effort is in aid of cathedral funds. Lady Ferguson, in opening the sale, expressed her pleasure at being present, and said all know that at the present time it was a difficult matter to meet church expenses. The times were liard for everyone, and money was not circulating as it had been. She expressed her sincere sympathy in connection with the illness of Canon Nevill, and wished the sale every success. In the evening the sale was continued, and brisk business done. Entertainment was provided by the pupils of the junior Bible class, assisted by Miss S. Neilson, the entertainment taking the form of a sketch, entitled ‘ Poor Puss.’ Musichl and elocutionary items were also given. The salo will conclude this evening, when an entertainment by members of the Dunedin Operatic Society will bo given.
