PROFESSIONAL TOURNAMENT NEW YORK, September 20. At lyarost Hills, in the final, Richards beat Ivozoluh, 2-0, 10-S, 0-3, O-f. PORT CHALMERS CLUB Owing io ibe unpleasant weather conditions, tho Port Chalmers Tennis Club Coininictco decided to cancel the afternoon function and hold its official opening in tho form of a social evening. A fairly largo attendance was welcomed by tho president (Dr Edgar). Before declaring tho season open tho President mentioned that another court was essential, ..for which it was propqsed to start a bazaar or art union. Cr L. K. Smith apologised'for tho absence of the mayor (Mr Love), and stated ’hat tho council had decided to finish trie <hildren's playground, so helping to beautify the Tennis Club’s present unwindings. Mr W. Corbett, a vice-president, also responded on behalf of the Cricket Club. Tho Secretary (Mr S. Jack! mentioned that Dr Edgar had given a donation to provide for a junior hoy and girl subscription to the duft, tho best ](layers among senior school members to bo selected by the committee. After the opening ceremony supper was supplied and a dance followed. Mr L. Jack was at tho piano.
