OTAGO CLUB A Canadian foursome bogey competition was played on Balmacewcn Links on Saturday afternoon. Heavy rain set in shortly at ter the first pairs had started, and continued throughout the afternoon,' but this did not deter twenty-eight pairs from competing, although alt of these did not finish the round. The competition resulted in a tic between six pairs with scores of 3 down. The following were the couples who tiedll Dick and B. E. Hayward (handicap 5), J. Spence and 11. J. Grayson (0), C. T. Irvine and .A. N. IlaggiU (5), J. C. Shand and J. W. Stneatoi (10). J. It. Laidlaw and P. W. Clarkson (11), D. A. Solomon and C. S. Shuttleworth (12). In this foursome competition both players play teo shots, and the- better shot is selected to continue the play of the hole, and this often leads to controversy as to which ball should be selected. At the tenth hole ou Saturday there was at least no question in the pair composed of A. N. Haggitt and C. T. Irvine, as Irvine holed out, with his tec shot, and is now entitled to membership of “The Holc-in-ono Club.” ST. CLAIR CLUB The final of the knock-out competition for tho Paterson Cup, played over tho week-end was won by W. Clayton, who defeated F. Shcrriff by 4 up and 2 to play SOUTHERN HAWKE'S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP In tho filial of the Southern Hawke’s Bay championship at Dannevirko A. E. Eksted (Palmerston North) defeated H. S. Hindmarsh (Napier), 0 and 5. The game finished at the thirteen hole, experience prevailing against the younger player. Tho Dannevirko Handicap Challenge Cup final was won by CL Broadhead (Wanganui), who defeated E. P.ullick (Dannevirko), 7 and u.
