(Received September 11, at 10.30 a.m.) A message from tho whaler Isbjoern says that the diary of Strindberg reveals a tragic story' of disappointed hopes and heroic facing of death. It discloses that the balloon landed on a huge iceberg on July 14, 1397, after a three days’ flight. The march southwards began on July 22, and the party discovered White Island on September 17. They celebrated by a banquet in a snowhoitse built on a glacier, but a part of this broke off, and they drifted to sea on October 2. The party regained the island on October 5. Next day they were overwhelmed by a snowstorm. The entries after that reveal advancing weakness, blit no word of despair until they ceased on October 17.
