(Received September 10, at 11.30 a.m.) A message from Regina states that a resolution urging the dominion Government to take the initiative _ in bringing about a conference of nations with the object of increasing the purchasing power of the people was defeated at the annual convention of the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada. The president (Mr Moore) stated that the League of Nat.ons and the International Federation o( Labour Unions wore working to the same end. Unemployment insurance was urged. UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES. VANCOUVER, September 9. (Received September 10, at 11.55 a.m.) A report from Hamilton states that, addressing the convention of the Union of Canadian Municipalities, the Mayor (Mr H. W. Cater) of Brandon (Manitoba) declared that the economic loss to Canada through unemployment was 10.000. per month. Ho estimated that those out of work numbered 200.000.
