ANDERSON’S BAY GLEE CLUB

A VERY ENJOYABLE CONCERT Since its inception some twenty-two years ago the Anderson’s Bay Glee Club has given a great deal of pleasure to , th.) residents of that- suburb. •: The annual concerts have always been attended with the greatest interest, for they invariably reveal an excellent musical standard. The club was associated last evening with the Anderson’s Bay Orchestra i.i a very enjoyable concert, the Cameron Hall being filled to capacity for the t jcasion. The Glee .Club had:' obviously put much, care and thought into the preparation of the choral selections. The members were fully appreciative oi the interpretative value of what they were singing, and responded to ilr .James Clark’s beat with alertness and intelligence. Their first item was the glee ' From Oberon in Fairyland,’ which was sung with charm and distinction. Tho part songs,.. ‘ The Meeting of tho Waters ’ and ‘ You Stole My Love,’ were very warmly received by the audience, the voices in these songs combining very effectively. Tho hymn ‘ J Gladsome Light ’ was given with taste, tho devotional spirit being nicely sustained Other choral items that, were artistically sung were ‘ Music,’ ‘ With a Laugh as Wo Go Round,’ ‘ Ca’ the Yowes,’ ‘ Sleep, Gentle Lady,' ‘ Song for Spring,’ and ‘Tho Bells of St. Michael’s Tower.’ The choir accorded each song an individual interpretation and infused highly effective colour into each. . • . : Tho orchestra was heard in tho march ‘ Pythian ’ and the overture ‘ Morning, Noon, and Night.’ These selections were played with the greatest spirit, and were enthusiastically received. Tho soloists were Miss Eva Scott and Mr J. E. Davies, both of whom sang very acceptably indeed. Mr Lester Holler’s elocutionary i, i were extremely popular, and f deled a very attractive note to tho programme.
